The official group for the Shoshone Rock Club in Powell, Wyoming. Serves rock hounds and rock enthusiasts throughout the Big Horn Basin, from around the state of Wyoming, and those in our region north of the Montana border
Established in 1959, helps to promote sharing knowledge of rocks, minerals, fossils and gems through field trips, educational speakers and group interaction
Do you have a rock, mineral ,or fossil you would like identified? Bring it to the 2026 Bighorn Basin Rock Show, May 29 or 30 at the Park County Fairgrounds in Powell. Doc Ellis, retired US Bureau of Mines geologist will be there to identify minerals and rocks. Larry Oliveria from the Draper Museum will be on hand to identify fossils. Show hours are 1 pm- 7 pm Friday and 9 am- 5pm on Saturday.
